Born under the molten sun of Thanalan, Raven Rayala learned to run before she learned to trust. Born the daughter of a nameless monk and a dancer who vanished one night, The Hyur grew up in the backstreets of Ul’dah, where every meal had a price and every kindness a catch. By the time she was ten, she could pick a merchant's purse faster than most blinked. The alleys were her home and her source for life. She grew nameless, but her hair color and desperation for a meal, along with her association with darkness led her to the name she now bore : Raven.But one night, during a botched heist near the Steps of Thal, she crossed paths with a monk of the Fist of Rhalgr ; a pilgrim passing through the city. When he disarmed her, she spat curses and swung again. He only smiled.“If you must take something,” he told her “take control of yourself first.”Weeks later, she sought him out in Little Ala Mhigo, demanding to learn what he knew. He laughed, then taught her how to still her breath, how to strike with purpose instead of panic. Years of bruises, sweat, and silence followed, until the thief within her was tempered into something purer—a monk not of faith, but of discipline. A Balance in Discord.Crossing paths with Minfilia Warde & Thancred Waters, she soon became one of the few Alleys of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. While finding sisterhood with Lyse Hext, a fellow Monk, Raven mastered her art within Ala Mhigo while defending the Source.When she returned to Ul’dah, Raven found the same hungry eyes staring out from the alleys—the same children she once was. So she stayed. While saving the world from impending doom beside The Warrior of Light & the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, she temporarily retired from her position as a Scion and protected those victim of her own past and the mercilessness of Ul'Dah's streets.However, as soon as the Scions (or more specifically, Thancred) require her to be back by their side, she runs back to the Scions faster than an Opo-Opo.
